Pipeline Integrity Management for Delaware Basin Crude

Pipeline Integrity HCA EFRD & Risk Analysis | Audubon Companies

Client:

San Mateo Midstream

Location:

Loving, New Mexico

Project summary:

Subject to pipeline integrity management rule 49 CFR Part 195.452, San Mateo Midstream enlisted Audubon to identify high-consequence areas (HCAs) associated with the design and construction of a new crude oil pipeline in the Delaware Basin.

In accordance with Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) requirements, Audubon conducted pipeline integrity services including emergency flow restriction device (EFRD) studies to determine pipeline centerline locations and leak detection capabilities, elevation and pipeline control, and element response times. A risk analysis was also performed based on credible pipeline integrity threats, and a qualitative risk analysis determined the probability of threat occurrence, failure consequences, and the cost of risks per mile of pipeline.

Audubon’s findings and recommendations assisted San Mateo Midstream with risk reduction, operational prioritization, and pipeline maintenance budgeting for its greenfield project.
