Project summary
Integrated project services for new gas facility
Audubon Companies delivered a turnkey EPC solution for a 500-MMscf/d metering station near El Campo, Texas. The grassroots natural gas facility interconnects to a cross-state pipeline system, serving as a key addition to the operator’s expanding natural gas transmission network.
The full-EPC project scope included engineering, design, and major-equipment procurement followed by self-performed construction of the metering station on the 300- x 300-ft site. To support full bidirectional gas flow, we implemented advanced measurement, filtration, and control systems for efficient, reliable, and safe product transport.
Flexibility + diligence for fast project schedule
Audubon maintained an aggressive timeline from project award to completion, making accuracy and quality crucial at every phase. Our team began with a comprehensive front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase along with detailed engineering efforts, which established clear technical requirements, streamlined design development, and enabled efficient execution during procurement and construction phases.
We collaborated closely with the operator and other stakeholders to keep the project schedule on track and respond to evolving project needs.
On-time project delivery despite weather delays
To kick off the construction phase, our team executed the civil work, including grading, fencing, access road, and stormwater drainage, enabling easy delivery of all major components. We also installed helical piles for quick foundation completion. All construction services maintained compliance with ASME B31.8 pipeline standards, while also meeting the combined technical specifications of multiple asset partners.
After civil construction, our team installed components for fully automated bidirectional gas flow, accurate measurements, real-time monitoring, and site safety:
- filter separator
- ultrasonic meter runs
- flow control valve
- emergency shutdown (ESD) system
- instrumentation + electrical (I&E) package
Despite weather delays, the new facility was completed on time and to the highest standards, supporting the efficient delivery of US energy resources to end users across regions. The operator awarded Audubon EPC on five additional metering stations shortly after the El Campo completion.
“The project at El Campo was all about adapting.
From navigating specifications to adjusting in
real time as priorities shifted, the team remained
focused on quality and execution. This is a prime
example of how collaboration and responsiveness
can drive successful EPC projects.”– Talal El Awar, President, EPC
